SOMEONE INVEST IN ME PLEASE
I’ve got nothing to lose so I’ll just ask you, the internet: I want to start a new comedy club in Los Angeles. Something with the taste of Largo, the affordability of UCB and the staying power of the Improv. The climate is right: comedians and audiences a like are looking for the new hub of comedy and I think I can bring that to LA.
If you are a venture capitalist/probono business manager/probono real estate mogul and are interested in investing in the comedy club that is going to take this Alt Comedy explosion to the next level please contact me. I have a location in mind, a great plan, and I know I can pull this off, but I can barely pay rent and I don’t have any powerful or rich family members to help me get the things I want. All I have is a vision, a location in mind, a business plan that needs a professional rewrite and an understanding of the comedy scene both from the audience and performer perspective that will ensure this club becomes the next big comedy hot spot.
Admittedly, I need a lot of help: I will need business managers, real estate people, and big venture capitalists to pull off the location I have in mind, as well as bar staff, managers, and all that good stuff that goes into operating a business. My goal is to get the word out to comedy aficionados or now rich comedians that would be willing to help me get the money and help that I need without compromising the integrity that I want this club to have, so I’m trying to go out to the comedy community to make this happen. I want this to be our club, a club for performers, a club for fans, and just really a club for people who want to enjoy comedy. Plus, as we enter this weird comedy boom time with podcasts getting TV shows and whatnot, this is the perfect time to make this happen!
So if you’re cool, get comedy, or just want to make money but will trust me to run the place the way I think will be best for growing a supportive comedy community of returning happy patrons then won’t you please contact me and give me your money? Or just click on the picture to donate some $$ until I figure out a better way to collect funds because I’m not sure how to set this up as a Kickstarter without breaking their rules.
GOAL #1: I have 59 days to make $10,000 or refund people’s money on PayPal. 60 days being the number of days you have on PayPal to refund people’s money, starting from yesterday, 8/26/12; $10,000 being the amount when you need to justify the donations to PayPal so it seems like a good starting goal as real estate in LA will be much more than that I’m sure.
As this plan grows I will be able to provide more substantial information (i.e. fundraising goals, time tables, formal business plans) but as of right now all money donated is going directly towards: Fees for meeting with lawyers, business planners & realtors. The first 60 days it’s going to be mostly about getting the word out to try to reach some business advisers and realtors interested in working on this projects as well as trying to spread the word to wealthy investors or comedians who would want to invest in this project. Any money raised in these first 60 days will not be spent unless I make over $10,000, in which case I will be investing the money in the above mentioned expenses so I can figure out exactly how much will be needed to get this club going.
(Like I mentioned earlier I would totally have this set up as a Kickstarter but technically funding a business venture breaks their rules. I will be talking to them to see if there is a way I can do this through them but until them all I can do is PayPal)
If you don’t have money but want to help, please Reblog, Retweet, Reddit, Share it, email it to your family and friends, and otherwise help me get this message out there. I have the vision but this club will be a group effort, born out of the comedy community that wants this to be a reality, so every little bit helps! You’re reblog might get this to the desk of a powerful venture capitalist/comedy fan who can help make this dream a reality!
LET’S DO THIS INTERNET!
Sam is awesome & would run an amazing club. Few people are more dedicated to comedy than she is, comedians included.
